Whilst in sydney last week our resedent photographer Samuel Nolan caught up with his good pal Brendan from Deadly Garments. Check out the interview and a few photos below!
So you have just recently released your SUMMER JAM range, how has it been so far with the addition to tees in your range as apposed to just shorts? Its been good, the range dropped pretty much bang on the new year and has been well received. The addition of tees was the next step, they are the perfect vehicle to get your brand message out there.
The Summer Jam range seems to have a distinct Aussie kick in the teeth to it, especially from the killer tee, where does this stem from? Haha, yeah its got a fair dollop of Aussie flavour thrown in. I guess it stems from myself wanting to see something different out there. Its an Australian brand, so why not Australian inspired graphics...?!
Whats involved in your work process from computer to the customer?
Basically everything I do revolves around music in some way or another, its my fuel if you will. Itll usually trigger an idea, that will get scribbled down and added to the melting pot. Thats just one piece of the puzzle... A healthy blend of original ideas and inspired content makes for an honest end result. Which is important these days. There is so much shit out there right now!
Shed us some light on your last colab with AFENDS and whats in store for the not too distant future. The Sawn-off? I approached Afends with the idea, they were keen. We kicked out some killer denim vests. They sold well. Were about to do it all again! As for DG, weve got a little winter capsule coming out. You can expect to see a continuation from where the Summer Jam left off, just a little bit on the chillier side.
Whats your tip for young designers wanting to give the clothing game a run?
Dont take yourself too seriously. Have some fun with it!
