Why dont you clean up? was the first thing owner and director of M+B gallery in LA said to photographer Mike Brodie as he arrived for his first major photography show in Hollywood dressed in a sleeveless Japanther shirt which hadnt been washed in two years. Brodies response being I aint taking a show (grinning), I want to be dirty. Kick starting his first major show, Mike Brodie arrived in style, turning up on the back of a freight train from Oakland, which in turn is the centre of attention for his first show. As a kid Brodie rode around the country zig zagging between freight trains with not much more then a back pack, tooth brush, and a polaroid camera. Snapping away his adventures, from the early age of 17, Mike has compiled a brilliant variety of photographs telling the tail of his experience Ridin Dirty.
