The non-profit program dubbed Skateistan is a tool used to empower youth in Afghanistan through skateboarding, by working with kids aged 5-18 to give them better opportunities in education, leadership and friendship.
Skateistan was founded by Aussie skateboarder Oliver Percovich and it began as a ‘Sports for Development’ project on the streets of Kabul in 2007. These days it is now an award-winning international project in Afghanistan as well as Cambodia, running daily skateboarding lessons, back-to-school programs and cultural exchanges.
