Praised by the likes of Pharrell, Childish Gambino and Tyler The Creator; 18 year old Atlanta rapper Raury is the next of kin bound for greatness. What distinguishes Raury from others lies in the marriage between his utopian songwriting and guitar-driven melodies, the majority of which he produced. Some might be taken back by his difference in sound from what you are used to hearing, but he emphasizes & embodies the new generation of kids growing up, who accept plenty of genres and cultures because of the internet age.
"I was fucking pissed. I hated school. My mom found out I smoked pot. She was patronizing me all the time. I just wanted to drop out and focus on what I wanted to do which was music," Raury says of the inspiration behind the song. "I thought school was a system of indoctrination and brainwashing, and they just want you to go to school, graduate, have kids and die. That's something I won't compromise. I won’t live my life on my knees."
Something I'm sure we can all relate too! In the meantime, watch the mellow vibes & dancing wilderness of 'God's Whisper' as we gear up his debut EP "Indigo Child" set to drop later this month...
