Sydney trio Movement inhabit a shadowy subspace where R&B and dance music begin to blur together and blend. Moved to make music by a love of the disparate sounds of Stevie Wonder and Aphex Twin—it was a good guide to the shadowy sound-picture of after-hours Sydney taken from their debut EP “Movement,” co-produced by The Weeknd collaborator Illangelo.
For their latest single, "Like Lust" they engaged the direction of Jessica Sarah Rinland inspired by the theme of 'first times'. The film uses natural history footage—human desire, spermatozoa, even cellular division—and sensual contemporary shots to dazzling effect. Is it mitosis or meiosis going on in there? Hard to tell, but either way, reproduction is a theme entirely at one with the band’s carnal sound.
